I just don't have the time, but I hope this can be somehow included in our discussion and not too off topic. Does God cause tornadoes and genocide and hurricanes and evil people? If no, how then can we attribute anything good that happens to him? God always wins. How do you decide what to attribute to God and what not too?

Sorry I don't have time to put my thoughts up yet, and this may stray from our topic, but it was something I was pondering on last night.

Something I've noticed at work is that we rarely make it from beginning to end of a project without setbacks. They always happen, and the job of a good manager is to keep the team moving forward even when the momentum is negative.

Similarly, I think creation, having a perfect manager, has an inexorable inertia towards fulfilling God's Will. Negatives were left in the system because God wants a relationship with us, which involves trust and faith. If nothing ever compromised our interests, we wouldn't have the chance to trust God and develop meaningful faith in Him.

So yes, God is responsible for a creation that results (almost inevitably) in bad weather and bad people, as well as sunrises and saints. At the same time, there's nothing that he hasn't equipped us to deal with.

As far as direct instigation, I dunno. I've felt his presence, so I know he's not an absentee landlord. But I also don't have a firm position on intercessory prayer, as it would mean that he withholds his assistance from people that aren't prayed for.

Hope that makes sense.

It's interesting to me that we would think parents insanely selfish if they created a perfect bubble for their children to live in, never to experience all that life has to offer, good and bad - and yet, we fail to recognize that a perfect God showing his perfect love allows us the free will to experience everything life has to offer and He provides all that we need to become what he desires us to be.

I worked long and hard on a comment... only to have it disappear when I tried to post it.

What I want you to know is that I believe God is good, inspite of the fact that my origial comment was taken. Did it disappear for good or for evil I don't yet know?

I may give the questions another shot later.

Love y'all!
