I just finished a paper about the greatest contribution of the Eastern Orthodox Church to the Church as a whole.

I really enjoy church history! (not sarcastic)

Will I ever use all this knowledge?

What do you think about Christian music? (not sure where i am going with that)

I met my cousin the other day at a christian concert... He's the backup drummer for a very well known group, so we had free tickets. I asked him a lot of questions about the group and any other artists he had encountered along the way. You know in our two hours of chatting it up about life on the road with a "Christian" band he never once expressed directly that God was present and working in his life or in the lives of the musicians. That's not to say that God wasn't. It just didn't come up. I am willing to say that could be more about me than him. And, I find it interesting. Anyway, from what I gathered, the "Christian" music industry is not all that different from the "secular" (i put this in quotes in light of Spencers comments) music industry, with the exception of what has been called the "family friendly" atmosphere (no alcohol/drugs sold at the venue, no cuss words in the lyrics)... What I mean to say is this: making a monitary profit, and glorification of human talent seemed to be the priority of the day. I'm sure not all venues are the same... Here's another question very much along the same lines: what do you think about Christian radio?

Love y'all,
J

The quality of Christian music from the specific industry is surprisingly touch and go. I like the lyrics because I've frequently found the right one to help my walk with God at the right moment. Of course I've also found those in secular music, same with both Christian and secular literature, Christian and secular friends, etc.

One beef I have (might be with Christian radio) is when a secular song that is not God-oriented is re-recorded by a Christian-music-industry singer to be played as Christian music. Is that Hate The Singer, Love The Song?

In fairness, I should admit I keep my car radio on KLOVE most of the time for the best chance to be inspired by the right word at the right time. So I complain, but I still participate, for better or worse.
